Here are a list of things we should stop doing and avoid to reduce the risk of dying from heart disease:
– High cholesterol intake
A lot of people take, on a daily basis, foods that have high cholesterol levels without knowing the damage that it causes when you have high cholesterol circulating in your blood. Too much cholesterol can cause blockages, leading to heart and circulatory diseases. Eating too much of foods like butter, fatty parts of meat, deep fried foods and fried fast foods is not good. If you regularly do this, now is the time to reduce the intake of these foods with high cholesterol levels.
Obesity simply means excessive body fat. Having excessive body fat is very dangerous to the health and wellness of a human being. Not only heart disease, there are bunch of other health problems that people that are obese are at a high risk of. These health problems include diabetes, hypertension, stroke, gallbladder disease, etc. So, you see, being obese is not healthy at all and should be avoided.
– Being physically inactive
A lot of people are physically inactive everyday. Sitting around in a place all the time is actually not healthy for you. Many heart diseases are as a direct result of lack of physical exercise and body stimulation. Exercise and body stimulation makes your heart stronger and more healthy. So, learn to be more physically active if you are guilty of being physically inactive.
Smoking has become more of a problem in recent times. Many have a lot of reasons why they smoke. Some say it relieves, tension and stress, others find it hard to stop because cigarettes contain nicotine, a highly addictive chemical substance. Nicotine can cause increase in blood pressure and heart rate. It can also cause the hardening of some of the arterial walls which can in turn lead to a heart attack. Smoking also causes a whole lot more health problems than heart disease. It can cause lung cancer, stroke etc. So, you see, smoking is never advisable. Like the manufacturers always put on the cigarette, cigarette smokers are liable to die young.
– unhealthy diet
This is where a lot of us frequently get it wrong. Most of us don’t keep track of what we eat. We just eat whatever we want, feel like or whatever is available, without giving a single thought to it. This is not advisable at all. Care should be taken with what you ingest on a daily basis. Eating healthy foods helps you live a healthier lifestyle. The importance of healthy eating can never be overemphasized.
