Communal and Management Lessons from the Ants

The ants have been unique in all ages for their foresight, economy and industry. They are tiny creatures which form their family of varying sizes in different parts of the earth and can survive in most ecosystems as a result of their ability to adapt to any habitat, coordinate themselves, make use of available food resources and defend themselves against any external aggression.

Have you ever observed an ant from close range? Have you seen an anthill? Have you tried looking at the world from ant’s perspective? If you have not, then it’s about time you did so because many times, little and seemingly insignificant things can be used to teach us great lessons.

Ants reveal to us the need to be active, network- conscious, tender/tough and steadfast.

Communal lessons from the ants: This refers to those activities of the ants that reflect on their ability to work together as a united group in the community they are found. Many communal lessons can be learned from the ants because:

Management lessons from the ants: This has to do with the ants’ ability to run and control their daily businesses/ activities. This skill of the ants for coordinating, running and controlling their activities is tremendous and helps the ants to organize themselves appropriately to accomplish great tasks. Hence, we learn that:

. Ants work as a team

. Ants trust one another

. Ants are open to one another

. Ants are partners in progress

. Ants look ahead
