6 Everyday habits hurting your fertility.

When it comes to fertility, much of the conversations is still focused on women but men are an important part of the fertility equation, with 50 percent of cases of infertility linked to the male partner.


So if you are trying to have a baby, it’s time to take note of these six common habits that can have a direct impact on male fertility.


1. Keeping your smart phone in your trousers pocket: Cell phone exposure may hurt the way your sperm move and decrease the number that are swimming around,a recent British review of 10 studies concluded that the radiation emitted from phones could cause DNA damage to sperm, and the heat from could raise the temperature inside your scrotum and hamper sperm production.




2. Extreme exercise: The study that linked moderate exercise with taking less time conceive also found that vigorous,high -intensity workouts correlated with taking a longer time to conceive.


One possible explanation is that extreme exercise can,in part, lead to severe weight loss or hormonal shifts, which in turn can cause irregular or missed periods.



3. Taking sugary beverages and soda pops: Guys who drinks more than one soda drink a day have Lower sperm motility than those who rarely or never sip the sweet stuff.



Eating or drinking too much sugar can lead to insulin resistance,a condition where your cells are unable to take glucose from your blood and use it for energy. This can lead to inflammation which can hinder how your sperm moves.



4. Cigarettes smoking: it’s no secret that smoking is detrimental to your health but did you know that smoking crack cigarettes can negatively impact your fertility.



The toxins in cigarettes such as carbon monoxide and tar, build up in your system and actually destroy otherwise healthy eggs, smoking also ages your reproductive system by making you run out of viable eggs more quickly.



5. Excessive caffeine: you don’t have to completely cut out your morning pick-me-up you may want to consider cutting doing on the number of cups you consume per day.


Taking more than five cups of coffee a day is associated with decrease fertility and once you become pregnant, drinking more than 200mg of caffeine a day may actually increase your risk of miscarriage.



6. Too much Alcohol: while it’s unclear exactly how alcohol affects fertility , research suggests that consuming more than two drinks a day may decrease fertility rates and increase the time it takes for couples to conceive so when you’re trying for a baby , drink only occasionally.
